Dimapur Auto Drivers' Union warns members against proxy cards, reckless driving

The Dimapur District Auto Drivers' Union (DDADU) has cautioned auto-rickshaw operators against using duplicate or proxy display cards, reckless driving, overloading, and charging unauthorised fares. DDADU president Tito Yepthomi said the union had engaged with police to address misuse of display cards, noting instances where a single card was used by multiple drivers. He urged authorities to penalise offenders and appealed to vehicle owners to ensure proper display of valid cards. Yepthomi acknowledged complaints of traffic violations including rush driving and line-breaking, warning that drivers caught flouting rules would not receive union support in lodging counter-complaints. He instructed drivers to limit passenger numbers—three for petrol auto-rickshaws—and cautioned against sudden turns for pickups. The union also requested district administration review vehicle numbers and issue assurance certificates.
