Dimapur civil society groups urge fast-track construction of bypass road

Three Dimapur-based civil society organisations—Naga Council Dimapur, Dimapur Urban Colony Chairmen Federation, and GB Union Dimapur Sadar—have jointly urged the state government to immediately commence construction of a proposed bypass road. The 8-kilometre stretch would run from New Check-Field Gate near Amar Flour Mill to Bible House near New Dhansari Bridge in Walford, crossing railway tracks and passing through Veterinary Colony and Burma Camp.
Following a meeting with the deputy commissioner on Thursday, the organisations said land for the project has already been surveyed, demarcated, and compensated, removing potential obstacles to construction. They urged the directorate of land records and survey to provide an official report on measurements and alignment to enable work to commence without delay.
The groups assured full cooperation and appealed to all communities to support timely completion of the project, expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Dimapur.
