Engineer and wife found dead in Gurugram flat; suicide note sent to colleagues

A 30-year-old software engineer and his 28-year-old wife were found dead at their rented apartment in Gurugram's Sector 68 on Thursday morning. The man, identified as Mohammad Aslam, was working with an Indonesia-based technology firm with offices in Sector 58, while his wife Farhana was a homemaker. The couple, originally from Kerala, had relocated to Gurugram from Bengaluru three months ago.
According to police, Aslam sent an email to his colleagues around 7 am on Thursday stating it was his "last day on earth" and referenced his struggles with mental health. In the message, he provided emergency contact details of his father, two relatives, and landlord, requesting they be alerted. Alarmed colleagues attempted to reach the contacts, and the landlord subsequently alerted Badshahpur police station around 8 am. When police and colleagues entered the first-floor apartment at M3M The Marina society, they found Aslam hanging from the ceiling fan in the bedroom, while Farhana was lying on the floor with injury marks on her neck.
Preliminary investigation indicates that Aslam strangled his wife with a rope before dying by suicide. Police noted that he had mentioned mental health issues in the email sent to his office.
