EU deforestation rule poses challenge for Indian coffee, rubber growers

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), set to take effect by year-end, presents challenges for India's coffee and rubber producers, according to UPASI. The industry body has urged the government to engage with the European Union to secure a practical, proportionate and non-discriminatory implementation of the new rules.
The EUDR aims to prevent deforestation-linked commodities from entering EU markets. UPASI's recommendation signals concerns that stringent compliance requirements could impact Indian growers' export competitiveness without adequate transition measures.
