Supreme Court upholds benefits for ex-UP DSP after 25-year legal battle over freedom fighter certificate

A former Uttar Pradesh Deputy Superintendent of Police has been vindicated by the Supreme Court after a quarter-century legal struggle over his freedom fighter certificate and associated benefits.
DSP Mishra had been reinstated on his final day of service while contesting allegations related to the validity of his certificate claiming a freedom fighter as a relative. Multiple official inquiries subsequently upheld the authenticity of his claim.
The Supreme Court's ruling upheld an earlier order granting him the disputed benefits, bringing an end to the protracted legal proceedings. The judgment marks the culmination of Mishra's long-running fight to clear his name and secure the entitlements he was entitled to receive.
