Productivity gains could further lower farm NPAs: Nabard Chief

Agriculture sector non-performing assets have declined significantly to single-digit levels, Nabard Chairman Shaji Krishnan V said. He attributed the improvement to better farm management and credit recovery efforts across the sector.

Krishnan outlined a two-pronged strategy to sustain the downward trend. Enhancing crop productivity through better farming practices and expanding credit facilities to farmers are expected to reduce NPAs further and strengthen the agricultural economy.
