FIIs dump Indian stocks for eighth straight week; DIIs step in to support
Foreign institutional investors have continued their selling spree in Indian equities for the eighth consecutive week, offloading ₹30,294 crore. The outflows have been largely absorbed by domestic institutional investors, who purchased ₹30,313 crore during the same period, providing support to the market.
Despite the sustained foreign selling, the Nifty 50 index closed marginally higher, snapping its previous losing streak. However, several headwinds remain in place that could shape the near-term trajectory of Indian markets.
Elevated global crude oil prices, persistent weakness in the rupee against the US dollar, and rising global bond yields continue to influence investor sentiment and capital flows. Market participants are closely watching whether these headwinds will ease or intensify, as they determine the likelihood of a sustained recovery in foreign fund inflows or a prolonged period of foreign selling.
