Financial literacy programme held in Kiphire, Nagaland

A capacity building programme on financial literacy was organised at Town Hall, Seyochung Town, Kiphire, on September 18 by Jingkhu Muzing Mulong (JMM) in collaboration with the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI). The programme aimed to improve financial knowledge among families, Self Help Groups and livelihood entrepreneurs.
Sessions covered earning, spending, saving, borrowing and financial protection. Participants learned about household budgeting, expense tracking and regular savings habits. Special focus was given to SHG financial management, including record-keeping of savings, loans and repayments, and adherence to Panchasutra principles.
The programme also addressed digital financial safety, advising participants to protect OTPs, UPIs and ATM PINs, and to remain alert against scams. Topics included insurance, government financial inclusion schemes and banking services. Participants were encouraged to follow a 7-day money action plan to track income, expenses and financial goals.
