Former JPSC Chairperson L Khiangte Arrested in Jharkhand Recruitment Exam Irregularities Case

Jharkhand CID arrested former Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) chairperson L Khiangte on Monday in connection with alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations. Khiangte, who took over as JPSC chairperson in February last year after retiring as the state's chief secretary, resigned on July 22. He had been questioned four times since July 28.
Khiangte's arrest brings the total number of arrests by CID in this case to 20. The arrest follows the resignation of all three JPSC members triggered by mass protests from aspirants alleging irregularities in recruitment tests. Khiangte stated he "voluntarily chose to resign" to ensure an impartial investigation.
