Former Kerala CM among detainees in Delhi's makeshift detention centres

Delhi Police have detained hundreds of people ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's October 10 protest at Jantar Mantar, including former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, actor Raj Zutshi, 15 journalists, and social media content creators. The detainees were transported in buses and vans to makeshift detention centres established across all 13 districts of the capital.
The police set up detention facilities at multiple locations, including Chhatrasal Stadium in north Delhi, approximately 13 kilometres from Jantar Mantar, and Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Bawana, around 38 kilometres from the protest site. According to sources, Pinarayi Vijayan was detained near Kerala House on Jantar Mantar Road that morning and brought to the stadium complex. At Chhatrasal Stadium, everyday activities at the sports complex continued as police operations proceeded, with athletes still practising while detainees arrived. Large pavilion tents were set up to provide meals, drinking water, and refreshments to police officers and Central Armed Police Forces personnel.
CPI(M) party worker AR Sindhu, speaking from a police vehicle, alleged that detained women protesters had their clothes torn and reported being moved repeatedly between detention sites. She stated the group had been taken to multiple locations since detention and expressed concerns about further transfers, saying they would next be taken to Burari.
