Four arrested for killing auto driver over Rs 20 fare dispute in Hyderabad

Falaknuma police in Hyderabad arrested four persons on Tuesday for the alleged killing of Mohammed Mukarram, a 42-year-old auto driver, following a fare dispute on September 20. The accused were identified as Syed Mohd Azeem, his mother Mumtaz Unnisa, Mohammed Shoaib and Mohd Imran Ali.
According to the complaint, a dispute arose when a passenger could not pay the Rs 20 fare due to lack of change. The passenger allegedly threatened Mukarram and called her son to the spot. Later that evening, Mukarram was lured to a location under the pretext of a discussion with another auto driver, where the accused attacked him with fists and a key chain, causing him to fall. Azeem allegedly struck Mukarram on the head with a bike key during the assault.
When Mukarram's wife and daughter attempted to intervene, the accused allegedly pushed them away and fled the scene. Mukarram was declared brought dead at Esra Hospital. The investigation is ongoing.
