FPI outflows cross Rs 23,000 crore in September amid global headwinds
Foreign Portfolio Investors have resumed selling Indian equities in September, with outflows exceeding Rs 23,000 crore through September 19. The renewed selling pressure comes amid a confluence of global factors including higher crude oil prices, elevated US bond yields, geopolitical risks and currency concerns.
Domestic institutional investors have stepped in to provide some cushion against the foreign outflows. Market analysts are watching the trend closely to assess whether September's selling activity signals broader weakness for the remainder of 2026.
