Sugar alone not viable; focus on by-products, Gadkari tells cooperatives

Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has advised sugar cooperatives that relying on sugar production alone is not economically sustainable. He urged mills to shift focus toward by-products of sugarcane, which he said could help deliver better prices to farmers.
Gadkari's remarks highlight the need for sugar mills to diversify their revenue streams. By-products such as bagasse, molasses, and other derivatives can add value and create additional income sources for both mills and farmers in the cooperative sector.
