Ganeshotsav rush creates traffic chaos on Mumbai-Konkan routes

Heavy traffic congested multiple routes across the Mumbai-Konkan belt during Ganeshotsav celebrations, with a 9-km-long jam reported at Palaspe. The congestion affected the Sion-Panvel and JNPT corridors, along with stretches at Kharpada, Indapur, Mangaon and near Khopoli on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. The surge in vehicular movement was attributed to festival-related travel as devotees moved idols and materials for the celebrations.
