Gem, jewellery exports rise 3.14% to $2.30 bn in August
India's gem and jewellery exports increased 3.14% to $2.30 billion in August despite subdued global demand. Studded gold jewellery exports surged significantly, while cut and polished diamond exports recorded volume gains, though price realisations remained under pressure.
Plain gold jewellery shipments declined sharply due to elevated gold prices and higher input costs. However, value-added segments including platinum and lab-grown diamonds showed strong growth, signalling a shift in India's export composition towards finished and higher-value jewellery products.
