Goa Forward Party reaches out to Congress after AAP alliance announcement

Goa Forward Party (GFP) has made an approach to the Congress, weeks after announcing an alliance with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for the 2027 assembly elections. GFP chief Vijai Sardesai said the opposition cannot hope to defeat the BJP while keeping the principal opposition party out of what he termed the 'Goa First' alliance.
Sardesai's statement signals a shift in the regional party's stance on alliance-building ahead of the 2027 polls. The GFP had previously announced plans to contest jointly with AAP, but the latest move suggests recalibration of the opposition strategy in the state.
The development reflects ongoing negotiations among opposition parties in Goa to present a unified front against the ruling BJP in the next assembly elections.
