Tamil Nadu BJP protests minister's aide entering temple in skull cap

The BJP in Tamil Nadu has criticized state ministers for allowing a Muslim aide wearing a skull cap to enter a temple on Saturday. The party alleged the incident violated a Madras High Court order issued in January 2024 that restricts non-Hindus from proceeding beyond the temple's flagmast unless they provide an undertaking affirming their faith in the deity and commitment to follow Hindu customs.
The BJP also claimed the entry breached the temple's dress code and religious traditions. The court order had established specific protocols for entry by non-Hindu visitors to the shrine.
The incident has triggered a political row, with the BJP raising objections to what it describes as a breach of established religious and legal protocols governing access to the temple.
