Need for accessibility overhaul in government welfare schemes

Government welfare and developmental schemes for economically disadvantaged sections deserve appreciation, yet significant accessibility barriers persist. Intended beneficiaries often face practical difficulties accessing benefits, as travel, lodging and other incidental costs become financial burdens, preventing genuine deserving people from participating in or completing required procedures.
Another challenge involves access to institutional finance under schemes promoting self-employment and entrepreneurship. While banks exercise caution based on past defaults, beneficiaries sometimes struggle securing loans. Greater coordination among government agencies, financial institutions and beneficiaries is essential to ensure deserving applicants are not left behind while maintaining financial discipline and safeguards.
