GST Council to ease compliance burden for small ecommerce sellers
The Goods and Services Tax Council is set to deliberate on proposals aimed at easing operational compliance for small ecommerce sellers. If approved, these sellers would be permitted to operate across India using a single registered address instead of maintaining multiple registrations in different states.
The proposals also include allowing online sellers to utilize warehouse locations for registration purposes. The council will simultaneously address ambiguities around tax liability for services booked through ecommerce platforms, with changes intended to standardize tax collection and reporting requirements across all platforms.
