Next-Generation GST Set to Drive India's Growth Phase

Goods and Services Tax registrations across India reached approximately 17.1 million by the end of August, marking a 15% increase compared to the same period last year. This milestone reflects expanding participation in the formal economy and growing business activity across Central and State jurisdictions.
Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman highlighted the achievement as a significant indicator of India's evolving tax framework. The steady rise in GST registrations demonstrates the widening of the tax base coverage and increased formalization of economic activity across the country.
The growth in registration numbers underscores the expanding reach of India's tax administration and the increasing integration of businesses into the formal economy structure. This trend is viewed as contributing to India's next phase of economic growth and development.
