Gujarat plans 6-month shelter and skill training to eliminate begging in 4 cities

Gujarat has unveiled a plan to address begging in four cities through a comprehensive rehabilitation scheme. The initiative will provide homeless individuals and beggars with six months of shelter accommodation coupled with skill training programmes.
The state aims to equip beneficiaries with vocational skills to enable self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on street begging. The programme targets four major urban centres in the state as part of efforts to create cleaner, safer public spaces.
