Haaland Scores Brace as Norway Routs Iraq 4-1 in World Cup Opener

Erling Haaland marked his FIFA World Cup debut with a brace as Norway defeated Iraq 4-1 in their Group I opener at Boston Stadium. Both nations were competing on the world stage for the first time this century. Haaland, who arrived with over 50 international goals, opened the scoring early when David Moller Wolfe's cross from the left found him at the back post.
Leo Ostigard also netted for Norway in the commanding victory. Iraq's Aymen Hussein scored as well, becoming only the second Iraqi player to score a World Cup goal. Goalkeeper Orjan Nyland, at 35 years and 279 days, became Norway's oldest World Cup debutant.
