Heritage activists oppose coal mine project near Ramappa Temple in Telangana

Heritage activists in Telangana have raised objections to a planned open-cast coal mine in proximity to the Ramappa Temple, a UNESCO-designated World Heritage Site. The activists contend that the mining operations pose a significant threat to the structural integrity and cultural significance of the historic temple.
The opposition centres on environmental and archaeological concerns, with groups arguing that such industrial activity could damage the site's heritage value and surrounding ecosystem. The Ramappa Temple, also known as the Rudreshwara Temple, is a 13th-century structure located in the state and holds considerable historical importance.
