“Hitler Loved The Word Hydra”: Revanth Reddy’s Remark Triggers National Political Storm, BJP Launches Sharp Attack

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has landed in the middle of a major political controversy after comments he made about the state's anti-encroachment agency HYDRAA ignited a fierce reaction from the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Speaking at a conclave in Bengaluru, Reddy discussed the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA), an agency established to remove illegal encroachments and safeguard public properties. During the conversation, he claimed that the term "Hydra" was associated with Adolf Hitler and suggested that this influenced the naming of the agency.
The remarks immediately drew attention, with historians and political commentators questioning the historical basis of the claim. Several observers noted that there is no widely accepted evidence connecting Hitler's inner circle or political machinery with the term "Hydra."
Sensing an opportunity to corner the Congress government in Telangana, the BJP launched an aggressive political offensive. Party leaders accused Reddy of making irresponsible comments and alleged that the statement reflected a deeper political mindset within the Congress.
BJP national spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla took to social media to attack both the Telangana Chief Minister and the Congress leadership, demanding accountability over the remarks. The BJP argued that references involving Hitler should not be treated casually by elected leaders and questioned whether the Congress high command would respond to the controversy.
The dispute widened further when attention shifted to Reddy's comments regarding regional representation and taxation. During the same event, the Chief Minister argued that southern states contribute significantly to the country's economy and deserve greater recognition in national decision-making.
Those remarks triggered another round of criticism from BJP leaders, who accused Reddy of attempting to frame national politics through a North-versus-South narrative. The party rejected suggestions that political power is concentrated in any particular region and described the comments as divisive.
