Man Booked for Abetting Wife's Suicide in Madhya Pradesh, FIR Filed a Month Later

A man from Dhar in Madhya Pradesh has been booked for abetting his wife's suicide nearly a month after her death. Chetna Singh, 37, consumed poison on May 8 near a temple in Naugaon and died during hospital treatment. Her husband Narendra Singh, originally from Indore district, allegedly subjected her to constant suspicion and physical and mental torture.
Following the incident, Naugaon police initially registered a case for investigation. After examining witness statements and evidence, authorities determined that the husband's persistent harassment had driven her to the extreme step. An FIR was registered against Singh on Sunday under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetting suicide, with further legal action underway.
