IIT-Indore Spreads Cleanliness Message Through Waste Segregation and Street Theatre

Indian Institute of Technology Indore organised a two-day awareness campaign on September 23 and 24 under the Swachhata Hi Seva (SHS) 2026 initiative. The drive combined waste-segregation education with street theatre to encourage behavioural change and responsible waste management among staff, students, and the wider community.
On September 23, IIT-Indore held an awareness session on four-way waste segregation at Balda Farm House, focusing on sensitising housekeeping and administrative staff to segregation at source and sustainable practices. Participants were encouraged to follow the principles of Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Say No to Plastics.
On September 24, the institute organised a nukkad natak (street theatre) at the Learning Resource Centre, drawing over 120 students from Sandipani Higher Secondary School in Dewas. Professional artistes used interactive performance to highlight cleanliness, hygiene, environmental responsibility and civic participation, taking the message to younger audiences.
