IMF raises India's FY27 growth forecast to 7% on strong domestic demand

The International Monetary Fund has raised its growth forecast for India in fiscal year 2027 to 7 per cent, reflecting confidence in the country's domestic demand resilience. The upgraded outlook stands in contrast to the IMF's more subdued medium-term projections for global economic growth.
The revision highlights India's relative economic strength as major economies face headwinds. However, the IMF has cautioned that inflation and geopolitical risks remain concerns that could affect the trajectory.
The higher forecast underscores India's position as one of the fastest-growing major economies, supported by robust domestic consumption and investment activity.
