India's crude oil imports rise 7% in September as import bill surges 47%

India's crude oil imports increased by 7% in September compared to the previous month, driven by higher global oil prices and rising energy demand. The surge in imports pushed the overall crude oil import bill up significantly.
The cost of oil and gas imports spiked sharply, with net spending on these commodities climbing approximately 40% to reach $13.4 billion in September. The steep rise in the import bill reflects both increased volumes and elevated international crude prices during the period.
The uptick in crude imports underscores India's continued dependence on overseas oil supplies to meet domestic energy needs and support economic growth.
