India's fast-track foreign investor scheme logs 164 registrations in 100 days

India's SWAGAT-FI framework, launched on June 1, has attracted 164 registrations within its first 100 days of operation. The scheme simplifies registration for trusted foreign investors, including pension funds and sovereign wealth funds, offering a streamlined approval process.
The framework extends registration validity to 10 years, significantly reducing compliance costs for long-term investors. Early registrants include major global asset managers seeking easier market access through the expedited route.
While the scheme has demonstrated traction among institutional investors, broader foreign investment sentiment has remained uneven in recent months.
