India suffer 4-0 defeat against Brazil in historic Kolkata clash

Brazil defeated India 4-0 in their maiden senior men's international match at Kolkata's Salt Lake Stadium on Saturday. Estevao scored in the 28th minute before Pedro doubled the lead before half-time. Samuel Lino added two goals after the break as Brazil converted their dominance into a comfortable victory.
India made a competitive start, staying compact and maintaining defensive discipline for the opening 25 minutes. They caught Brazil's Vinicius Junior offside repeatedly and attempted to play out from the back. However, goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu had a difficult evening, and defensive lapses allowed Brazil to capitalise on mistakes.
Despite the heavy defeat, India showed glimpses of promise. Ryan Williams displayed pace going forward and came close to scoring, while Sahal Abdul Samad showed composure in midfield and the defence demonstrated early organisation. The match highlighted the technical, tactical and physical gaps India must bridge to compete with football's elite.
