India and Mercosur agree to accept electronic Certificates of Origin

India and the Mercosur bloc have agreed to accept electronic Certificates of Origin in a move aimed at modernizing trade procedures between the two sides. The agreement grants electronic certificates the same legal standing as paper documents, facilitating paperless trade.
The protocol is expected to reduce transaction costs and processing times significantly for bilateral commerce. The agreement will become effective after all parties complete their internal procedures.
