India and MERCOSUR announce plan to expand trade pact
India and the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR) have announced plans to expand their trade partnership. The two sides signed a protocol aimed at streamlining trade procedures through paperless certificates of origin.
Bilateral trade between India and MERCOSUR reached $21 billion in 2025. The agreement is intended to facilitate smoother commercial exchanges and reduce administrative barriers between the parties.
MERCOSUR comprises Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay. The expanded pact reflects both sides' commitment to strengthening economic ties in a post-pandemic environment.
