India notifies first tariff cuts under New Zealand FTA

India will begin implementing tariff reductions on select imports from New Zealand starting October 20 under a newly notified Free Trade Agreement. The concessions include zero basic customs duty on sheep meat, along with specified duty rates for fish and wine imports.
The agreement also establishes provisions for manuka honey and kiwi fruit imports, each with varying duty structures. However, sensitive product categories including dairy have been excluded from the trade liberalization terms.
The FTA marks the first phase of India's expanded trade engagement with New Zealand, with duty cuts taking effect as scheduled.
