India's Oil Imports Heavily Concentrated Among Three Nations in August

India sourced more than two-thirds of its crude oil imports in August from just three countries—Russia, the United States, and the United Arab Emirates—marking an all-time high concentration among these suppliers.
Russia's share declined to 44 percent in August from a historic peak in July, yet remained the largest single supplier. Meanwhile, the shares of both the US and UAE surged during the same period, collectively compensating for Russia's slight pullback.
The combined share of these three nations reached an unprecedented level, underscoring India's growing reliance on a narrow supplier base for its energy security needs. This concentration reflects global oil market dynamics and geopolitical shifts in India's energy sourcing strategy.
