India, Qatar agree to accelerate trade and investment talks

India and Qatar have agreed to accelerate bilateral engagement on a Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) and Free Trade Agreement (FTA). The announcement came during talks between Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Qatari official Al-Sayed.
The two nations discussed Qatar's $10 billion investment pledge into India and plans to establish a Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) office in the country. The move aims to strengthen economic ties and facilitate greater investment flows between the two nations.
The acceleration of BIT and FTA negotiations is expected to provide a formal framework for enhanced trade and investment collaboration.
