India set to add 2.5 lakh seasonal jobs in festive season

India is anticipated to generate between 2 and 2.5 lakh seasonal and gig positions during the July-December festive season, with hiring expected to surge 15-20% compared to previous years.
The growth is being driven by e-commerce, retail, and logistics sectors, which are expanding their workforce ahead of peak shopping periods. Companies are increasingly planning early for seasonal demand and broadening their talent acquisition beyond major cities.
Employers are also shifting focus toward diverse talent pools and new operational roles suited to changing business models, with expansion into tier II and III cities becoming a key hiring strategy.
