Airlines seek review of ATF pricing formula amid fuel cost surge

The Federation of Indian Airlines has sought a review of the existing aviation turbine fuel (ATF) pricing formula, citing unprecedented increases in fuel costs that are straining airline operations.
The industry body attributed the pressure to a combination of geopolitical disruptions and rupee depreciation against the dollar, which have together elevated ATF prices and impacted airline cash flows and financial viability.
The move reflects growing concerns among Indian carriers over sustainability amid volatile global energy markets and currency headwinds.
