56% of Indian companies plan to hire more CAs and CSs despite falling exam applications

About 56 per cent of Indian companies plan to increase hiring of Chartered Accountants (CA) and Company Secretaries (CS), according to a report by global professional services firm Aon. Another 33 per cent will keep hiring unchanged, while only 11 per cent intend to reduce their workforce in these roles. This represents the strongest hiring intent among all professional segments tracked in the survey.
The Campus Study Report 2026-27 highlights that CA and CS candidates record the highest net hiring intent at +45 points, significantly ahead of other talent categories. Interns follow at +20 points, while non-engineers show only mildly positive intent at +7 points. The strong hiring momentum comes as attrition appears to have eased across Indian firms, with the share of organisations tracking early attrition among campus hires dropping to 82 per cent from 89 per cent last year.
The entry route for CA and CS roles remains well-utilised, with 91 per cent of organisations hiring CA-CS interns, a figure comparable to BTech, MTech graduates at 94 per cent and MBA graduates at 93 per cent. Additionally, 82 per cent of organisations extend pre-placement interviews or offers to CA and CS interns, demonstrating strong conversion potential from internship to full-time positions.
