Three Indian Designers Reshaping Fashion Retail and Global Runways

Delhi-based designer Shweta Kapur has introduced Apartment-88, a new travelling retail and experience concept that reimagines shopping as discovery rather than commerce. The format creates a lived-in apartment atmosphere where fashion, design, culture and community converge. The debut presentation, held at Kapur's Delhi residence, combines her Biophilia F/W '26 collection with furniture, books and atelier elements, exploring themes of transformation and becoming.
At Paris Fashion Week, avant-garde label Matières Fécales featured Banarasi handlooms from Tilfi Banaras in its Spring/Summer 2027 collection, The Ninety-Nine Percent. The collaboration demonstrated how traditional Indian textiles can be reinterpreted in contemporary silhouettes on global platforms, blending Banarasi craft traditions with modern design sensibilities.
Tarun Tahiliani's OTT collection also engaged in creative dialogue with celebrated contemporary artist Anjolie Ela Menon, reflecting broader trends of Indian designers experimenting with heritage craftsmanship and artistic collaboration.
