Indian recyclers warn EU metal waste ban could raise costs for MSMEs

Indian recyclers have cautioned that proposed EU restrictions on metal waste exports could increase costs and adversely affect small and medium enterprises in the sector. Industry estimates indicate that the EU accounts for a substantial portion of India's imports of aluminium, copper, lead and zinc scrap.
The warnings come as the bloc considers tightening regulations on waste material exports. Recyclers argue that such restrictions would limit access to raw material, potentially forcing domestic players to source from costlier alternatives or invest in new procurement channels.
