Indore Municipal Corporation Demolishes Over 40 Houses for Road Widening Project

The Indore Municipal Corporation has intensified its road-widening drive under the city's Master Plan, demolishing more than 40 houses on Tuesday in the area between Jinsi Square and Naimanth Jain Temple. The civic body is currently executing a 60-feet-wide road project, with plans to eventually widen it to 80 feet as per the Master Plan.
Municipal officials had marked structures three months ago that encroached on the proposed widening area, with some residential constructions extending eight to ten feet into the project zone. Residents were given the opportunity to voluntarily demolish affected portions, and those who did not comply faced municipal demolition proceedings. The operation employed eight JCB machines and over 100 workers, with electricity supply temporarily disconnected and traffic halted for safety.
The road-widening project aims to improve city connectivity, allowing commuters to travel towards Bada Ganpati and Rambagh via Jinsi Road. Demolition work between Laxmibai Statue and Jinsi Square was completed two weeks earlier. The municipal corporation plans another demolition drive next week.
