Indore Food Safety Drive Uncovers Hygiene Lapses at Hotels, Temples

The Food Safety Administration in Indore conducted a two-day inspection drive across prominent hotels, restaurants and prasad outlets, collecting 31 samples and identifying multiple hygiene violations. Inspections at establishments including Infinity Hotel, Fairfield by Marriott, Shrimaya Hotel and various prasad counters revealed lapses in food storage, temperature monitoring, and mandatory record-keeping.
At Fairfield by Marriott, inspectors found vegetarian and non-vegetarian food stored together, open dustbins, cockroaches in the storeroom and uncovered ready-to-eat food. At prasad outlets near Khajrana Ganesh Temple, officials discovered dirty floors, improper storage conditions and missing food licenses. Other violations included refrigerators without temperature-monitoring devices, missing calibration records and non-compliance with FIFO storage systems.
All 31 samples have been sent to the State Food Testing Laboratory in Bhopal for analysis. Authorities have issued notices and improvement directions to the establishments, with legal action to follow based on test results.
