13-km Power Corridor Completed to Supply Electricity to Indore Metro

Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has constructed a nearly 13-km-long Extra High Voltage transmission corridor from Jaitpura to MR-10 to supply power to Indore Metro. The 132 kV double-circuit composite transmission line will feed the proposed Metro Receiving Substation at MR-10, forming a key part of the electricity infrastructure for the city's mass rapid transit project.
To navigate space constraints in densely populated urban areas, MP Transco deployed narrow-base towers, monopole towers and underground cable technology. In January 2025, the company also installed an additional 160 MVA transformer at its 220 kV Jaitpura substation to strengthen power supply to the Metro's receiving stations.
Three grid stations at Depalpur, Jaitpura and Manglia will support Indore Metro's Phase-I network. Each of the three proposed Metro substations at MR-10, Gandhi Nagar and Khajrana is expected to require approximately 40 MVA of power.
