Hanuman Ansh crosses ₹100 crore: How a ₹2-crore devotional film became 2026's surprise blockbuster

A devotional film made on a reported budget of around ₹2 crore has emerged as one of 2026's biggest box-office surprises. Vishal Chaturvedi's Hanuman Ansh, based on the life and spiritual journey of Neem Karoli Baba, started with just 25 screens and an opening collection of ₹10 lakh on 7th August but has now crossed ₹100 crore in India.
Unlike big-budget releases that earn heavily during opening weekends, Hanuman Ansh gained momentum through word-of-mouth. After modest collections in its first two weeks, the film picked up significantly from the third week onwards, earning ₹10.40 crore that week. By its fifth weekend, it collected ₹49.25 crore alone, with ₹22.75 crore on Sunday.
By Day 32, the film had accumulated ₹132 crore net in India with gross collections at approximately ₹156.20 crore, continuing to perform strongly even in its fifth week. The film competed effectively against newer releases, including Gurmeet Singh's Mirzapur: The Movie.
