Jabalpur Records Highest Murder Cases in Madhya Pradesh Over Five Years

Jabalpur district recorded the highest number of murders in Madhya Pradesh over the past five years with 68 cases, according to a Police Headquarters analysis presented at an inspector general conference. Sagar district ranked second with 51 incidents, followed by Ujjain with 48 cases. The findings defied conventional expectations, as the Gwalior-Chambal region, historically associated with high crime, was surpassed by Jabalpur.

The state police identified March, May, and October as vulnerable months for murders, with officials investigating potential links to substance abuse during festivals. DGP Kailash Makwana instructed range inspectors general to maintain strict vigilance in top 10 districts and address root causes of disputes at early stages to prevent escalation.
