Police crack ₹3.42 crore cyber fraud money trail in Indore; 16 arrested

Indore police arrested 16 people across two cases for allegedly supplying mule bank accounts to cyber fraudsters. Suspicious transactions totalling around ₹3.42 crore were detected in one account within a month. The accounts were linked to over 200 cyber fraud complaints registered nationwide, according to DCP (Zone 1) Narendra Rawat.
The investigation began after Aerodome police probed a ₹1.44 lakh cyber fraud case. The accused allegedly rented out bank accounts to receive, transfer and withdraw proceeds from cyber fraud, online betting and gaming schemes for commission. A second case involved a ₹17.84 lakh cryptocurrency investment fraud.
Police seized 34 ATM/debit cards, 24 cheque books, 12 bank passbooks, eight mobile phones and ₹1.08 lakh in cash. Investigators are questioning the arrested individuals to uncover additional accounts and other members of the cyber fraud network.
