Jeweller loses ₹4.17 lakh in phone-control fraud via fake wedding invitation

A jeweller in Hyderabad was defrauded of ₹4.17 lakh after scammers gained remote control of his phone through a fake wedding invitation message. The fraudsters used the phone access to intercept and exploit one-time passwords (OTPs) to authorise money transfers from his accounts.
The victim initially received what appeared to be a wedding invitation link. Once he clicked on it, the attackers obtained remote access to his device. Using this control, they triggered fund transfers and bypassed security measures by capturing the OTPs sent to his phone.
