Jharkhand job protest: Devendra Mahto hospitalised after 9-day fast

Devendra Mahto, leading a protest against alleged irregularities in Jharkhand recruitment examinations, was hospitalised after his blood sugar dropped sharply following a nine-day fast. His aide, Pankaj Kumar, claimed Mahto was injured during a police lathi-charge near the state assembly.
Clashes erupted on Monday as police deployed water cannons, tear gas and lathis against job aspirants protesting near the Jharkhand assembly. Several agitators and four policemen sustained injuries in the confrontation, officials confirmed.
