JPMorgan CEO warns of market disruption risks from high leverage
JPMorgan Chief Executive Jamie Dimon has warned that elevated market leverage and concealed borrowing could amplify volatility and trigger sudden market disruptions. While stopping short of drawing parallels to the 2008 financial crisis, Dimon cautioned that geopolitical tensions, fiscal deficits and rising military spending pose risks to financial stability.
Dimon highlighted concerns over hidden leverage in the financial system, noting that such accumulation could destabilize markets if sentiment shifts rapidly. He also pointed to macroeconomic headwinds—including geopolitical conflict and elevated government spending on defence—as potential sources of inflationary pressure that could unsettle investor confidence.
