Justice Sreedharan censures UP officials in NSA, namaz cases at Allahabad HC

Justice Sreedharan of Allahabad High Court has emerged as a vocal critic of Uttar Pradesh administration in his brief tenure, issuing sharp rebukes to senior officials over civil liberties and communal issues.
In recent months, the judge has censured the Noida District Magistrate in a case involving NSA (National Security Act) detention, and previously pulled up the Sambhal Superintendent of Police and District Collector over a plea linked to namaz prayers. These interventions reflect his focus on restraining executive overreach.
Justice Sreedharan's frequent transfers have kept him out of the High Court Collegium, limiting his role in judicial administration. Nonetheless, his rulings have marked a period of close scrutiny of state governance actions within a span of roughly ten months.
